Dr. Lahr-Well has been teaching at the college/university levels for the past 48 years. She is the founding CEO of Lahr-Well Academy, and has been directing (and teaching in) the program for the past 34 years, since its 1984/1985 inception.
Dr. Lahr-Well holds this truth to be self-evident in education:
When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one person to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle her/him, that the causes which impel the separation should be declared:
That (given the tragic state of U.S. education) all children are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are an EXCEPTIONAL and balanced education … and an EXCEPTIONAL, balanced, and patriotic life!
For Dr. Lahr-Well, the balance comes from teaching students pre-K through grade 12:
- Christian values (taught through the Lord’s Prayer, the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18, and the 23rd Psalm);
- multiple foreign languages;
- FACTUAL American History (multiple years);
- Civics (multiple years);
- World History (multiple years);
- World Geography (multiple years);
- Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics, Engineering, Robotics (to ALL grades);
- the “basics” (phonics, reading, reading comprehension, math, math word problems, fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, critical thinking, map skills, English grammar, English composition);
- as well as 2 college-level subjects: 272 World Literary (condensed) classics; and 80 World Philosophers.
This EXCEPTIONAL education, added to helping students understand how to balance their spiritual foundation with a balanced, exceptional, academic education with a balanced physical life, with a balanced diet — all with a balanced patriotism — can lead to an exceptional and balanced life!
A Message from Dr. Lahr-Well
As founder and CEO of Lahr-Well Academy, I also teach classes so I can better know students and better know other teachers’ frustrations and celebrations with those students.
I have my own core elementary class this year, populated with EXCEPTIONALLY bright students; but I am also teaching the annually-required high school classes of 272 condensed world literature pieces, as well as 70 world philosophers/80 world philosophy works.
Actually, with more than 52 years’ experience teaching at colleges/universities, I have found that the Academy high school graduates are far more advanced in world literature, philosophy, and critical thinking, than any of my B.A./B.S. higher education students. These classes, in addition to our STEaM program and foreign languages cause me to state:
To my knowledge (I have traveled the entire continental U.S.) there is no U.S. K-12 academic program that matches or exceeds the intensive, comprehensive successes of Lahr-Well Academy students.
Revolutionizing U.S. K-Grade 12 Education — one student at a time!
I have been with Lahr-Well Academy for 35 years. In those years, I have taught all levels of our students (prekindergarten through grade 12).
For the last several years, I have been the core teacher for levels 3 and 4 students (junior and senior high). The Academy annually requires both World and American histories, the federal and state constitutions, all levels of math, all levels of grammar, music appreciation, IXL program studies (which include math and grammar), four foreign languages (Spanish, Italian, French, and German), as well as keyboarding and computer coding. In addition to these subjects, I teach the analog clock, cursive writing, and macro/micro economics. I am blessed to be the teacher for these studies and students!
What I enjoy most about my experience at Lahr-Well Academy is getting to know all the students, and seeing the “light bulb go on” when students completely understand a new and difficult concept! I have never witnessed in any other school system the depth of individualized academic attention offered at Lahr-Well Academy. The students are the heart of the Academy, and each one makes his/her own special mark at the Academy.
August 2025 marks my second academic year with Lahr-Well Academy. As the elementary and middle school / junior high school science teacher, and high school science tutor, I enjoy interacting with the students and seeing them connect scientific concepts to the real world.
I believe in nurturing the skills of rational thinking, coupled with creativity and determination. Perhaps this is why, on multiple days in the week, students also find me as the Academy’s chess instructor. Checkmate!
This is my second year teaching art at Lahr-Well Academy, which has students in grades K-12th. Of all the places I’ve taught, Lahr-Well Academy has been my favorite.
The students have small class sizes so they get a lot of individual attention. The kids become like extended family as we get to know their personalities, moods and interests. This allows us to find ways to incorporate their interests in their classwork, particularly in art projects.
This is a school where no child is overlooked or left behind. I’m impressed with what the students are able to accomplish while they’re here. Most often students graduate earlier than their public school peers and also have a more well-rounded education as they learn different languages and study chess.
This school also works on developing discipline, accountability and character into their education. In a world that is increasingly online and impersonal, these students know how to sit down, look someone in the eye and have a conversation. Students are always respectful and are encouraged to display positive behavior through positive reinforcement.
Of all the schools I’ve taught at, Lahr-Well Academy surpasses them.
